Belief- We have the utmost respect for, and belief in, the people working to make their communities and the world cleaner, healthier, and more equitable.
Addressing Oppression- We understand that our country has (and other countries have) perpetrated centuries of slavery, racism and oppression creating inhumane and unjust systems, including the food system, which is built on exploitation and institutional brutality. This oppression is life and death for farmers and laborers, risking their livelihoods and health under challenging conditions, and consumers, struggling to feed their family’s nourishing food, and we see the ripple effects impact entire communities. DAISA approaches every project and client understanding both the urgency to make a difference, and the dedication to long-term work and embedded, multifaceted approaches; these centuries-old systems cannot be changed overnight.
Appreciation and Dedication - We are privileged to do this work and are committed to doing it in humility and with great diligence and appreciation for one another. Our hearts are in this work, we commit to our clients and their vision of a better future; we are passionate, thoughtful and take pride in our work.
Inquiry and Growth - We are a learning organization asking questions and listening until we understand, trying new things, gathering feedback from clients, each other and stakeholders and continuously improving. We embrace diverse opinions, perspectives and even conflict as an opportunity for learning.
Entrepreneurial Drive - We work with a real passion to address difficult, complex problems. We believe that taking risks, learning from mistakes and innovating is critical to developing practical and tailored solutions for our clients and their communities. We seek to create sustained value and mutual benefit for clients, partners, and employees.
Inclusive - We will review opportunities and engage with clients and stakeholders by using consistent and clear processes, communicating in an open and fair manner, proactively making sure that the people affected by our decisions are part of them. Diverse perspectives and backgrounds make our team and work stronger and more exciting.
Joy - While the challenges of this work are daunting, we will approach them with a sense of humor, fun, creativity and compassion because we are grateful for the great opportunity to work together to make a difference.
