She is known for building structure while remaining deeply people-centered, creating systems that balance care, accountability, and day-to-day functionality.
Karina’s commitment to equitable food systems began early. Growing up with access to fresh produce and healthy food, she developed a strong connection to nature and nourishment. This path led her to Nuestras Raíces in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where she worked in urban agriculture, community gardens, and farmers' markets.
Since her time at Nuestras Raíces, Karina has worked across grassroots organizing, event coordination, and design. Her experience includes serving as a field manager for grassroots political campaigns, working as an Event Assistant with the MIT Alumni Association (MITAA), and taking on various roles focused on building a more equitable and sustainable future. She has also worked as a landscape architect and planner on large-scale development projects, deepening her understanding of how design, land, and policy shape community wellbeing.
Across all of her work, Karina brings an equity-driven approach grounded in care, collaboration, and systems thinking. She remains committed to finding creative, inclusive ways to bring people together around healthy, delicious food and stronger, more just communities.
